Does Ghouse Have The Best Weed Events In DC?

Washington DC weed events are different from what folks in other cities might think. It's not an industry convention where cannabis businesses and investors can meet and make their pitches. Instead, it's a small and often exclusive get-together where people can get their supply of marijuana or socialize. But not all organized weed events in Washington DC are equal. Here’s what separates Ghouse from the rest:

5 Reasons Why Ghouse Has The Best DC Weed Events

1. We're Initiative 71-Compliant

Although marijuana has been legal in the district since 2015, getting cannabis in Washington DC isn't as straightforward as it is in other parts of the USA. You can't find any dispensaries like you would in cities like Portland, Los Angeles, or Las Vegas. This is because of DCs Initiative 71, or 1-71 for short.

Initiative 71 is a set of laws that legalizes recreational marijuana use and possession for people over 21 years old. You can also grow up to six cannabis plants in your home, though you can't have more than three flowering plants. You also can't carry around more than two ounces of marijuana.

Getting caught using marijuana can land you a $500 fine or 60 days in jail. Getting caught selling weed has more dire consequences, however. You could be jailed for half a year or forced to pay a fine of $1000. And that's just for first-time offenders.

Direct selling may be prohibited, but you are allowed to share up to one ounce of weed with other people. Because you can't set up a physical shop just for selling cannabis, Ghouse, along with other marijuana businesses in DC, had to find other ways to provide your products without breaking the law.

This is where DC weed events come in. To abide by the rules, marijuana isn't sold in these gatherings. Instead, they're offered as gifts to go along with the items up for sale. With Ghouse DC, you can usually find stickers, baseball cards, lighters, and shirts. How much weed you receive depends on what you buy. A shirt, for instance, typically gets you one ounce, while a lighter will earn a free half ounce.

What's important is that we're still technically adhering to I-71's restrictions.

2. An Alternative To Deliveries

Another alternative to joining a weed event is to have your items delivered directly to you. Aside from hosting events, Ghouse also provides fast and secure deliveries to any location in Washington DC. At times, it only takes us a few hours at most because we only operate within city limits. Customers living in Virginia or Maryland can get cannabis from Ghouse if they agree to travel to DC.

But despite Ghouse's convenient delivery services, some folks might still feel more comfortable with receiving their package at weed events instead. Fortunately, Ghouse is always happy to accommodate their request, as long as they're at least 21 years old and willing to stick with the set schedules. They are usually scheduled from 2 PM - 9 PM at a different location each day.

4. Privately Held Events

Initiative 71 still restricts the use of marijuana in any form if you're in areas that are "open" to the public. That includes bars, clubs, and restaurants too -- you can't use cannabis inside the premises even if you've rented the entire place out. Businesses that are caught letting their customers use marijuana in their establishment can also risk losing their license.

You also can't smoke in your car, and you aren't allowed to drive while under the influence.

Fortunately, Ghouse DC weed events are all held in private locations so that you can try them safely. They may also organize them in more reputable areas to ensure your security. Some of the neighborhoods where these events are hosted include the following:

  • DuPont Circle

  • Brookland

  • Cleveland Park

  • Georgetown

If you'd like to see more information on GHouse's next event in the city, you can follow on account on Instagram. The page is set on private so that only followers can know the details. However, following their page isn't an automatic invite either. For even more privacy, invites are only given if you make a request through our number. We also require that you have an ID and a matching selfie for verification purposes.

5. An Opportunity To Meet Other Enthusiasts

Weed events and meetups are excellent ways to make new friends with other marijuana fans. You can choose to come by yourself or invite a friend to join. Though Ghouse events are private, they're not serious affairs. You're free to relax and enjoy your stay for as long as the event lasts. Non-DC residents are also welcome as long as they have a state ID with them and are of legal age.
